European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR)
With EUTR having come into force on the 3rd March 2013 we take this
opportunity to advise all our customers of what this means in practical
and commercial terms:
Prohibits the placing of illegally harvested timber or timber
products in any form into the European Union.
Requires operators/traders to instigate a Due Diligence System (DDS)
to monitor and mitigate risk for first placement of timber or timber
products in the European market.
Requires traceability of timber or timber products to country and or
forest of origin.
have since 2008 in place a Responsible Purchasing Policy (RPP)
which by its nature was robust and stringent as it incorporated Chain
of Custody (COC) requirements for both Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®)
and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
Latterly as members
of The Timber Trade Federation (TTF) and the introduction of EUTR
our RPP has now been successfully audited by the TTF and found to be
Joinery Softwoods (HJS) assure you that the timber products we
supply will always fall within the EUTR requirements on us as operators,
further we will as a matter of course continue to up date our DDS
monitored through our RPP
